LOUIS, Mo. – Redshirt junior pitcher Nicole Newman (Madison, Wis.) of the Drake University softball team is the Missouri Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for a league-leading fifth time this season, the league office announced Monday, April 9. Newman helped Drake claim three victories over Southern Illinois as the team remains undefeated in MVC play at 11-0. She dominated in the first win over the Salukis, throwing her first career no-hitter along with tying her career-high of 17 strikeouts and she walked just two Salukis. In the series finale victory, Newman pitched 2.1 innings of relief, struck out five batters and earned her first save of the season.
