FOOTBALL’S-world governing body, FIFA, has denied a request by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) to postpone its World Cup Qualifier on Good Friday, March 25, against Costa Rica at the National Stadium at 7 p.m. “The JFF wishes to advise that it made representation to FIFA for a possible change of date based on the sacred nature of Good Friday to many Jamaicans,” informed a JFF release yesterday. It added: “FIFA has responded that the change in date was not possible as the 2016 international match calendar has been approved since 2013.” Captain Horace Burrell, the JFF president, apologised. “Because we are a Christian society, I appealed to FIFA and asked them to postpone the game and have us play on another date. However, FIFA came back to us and said no,” Burrell told The Gleaner. “We had no intention to offend the Christians, but nothing can be done,” he emphasised. Burrell said arrangements could be made for a church service inside the venue before game time. “I am thinking of having a church service at the National Stadium before the game starts,” Burrell said. Meanwhile, ticket prices remain Grandstand Category One $6,500, Grandstand Category Two $5,500 and Bleachers $1,200.
Heading into last weekend’s PGA Championship, Australia’s Jason Day had cracked the top five in nearly a third of the major championships he’d entered. He finished in the top 10 nearly half of the time. But he’d never hoisted one of those shiny trophies they give the tournament winner. That changed Sunday, when Day won the PGA Championship, breaking the record for lowest to-par score (-20) in a major.Yet Day’s record-shattering performance also highlights just how easy it was to go under par at the majors this season. While Day’s week at the PGA ranks No. 1 according to cumulative strokes below par, it’s nowhere near the best in modern history1Which, for the purposes of this article, began in 1958 — the first year the PGA Championship adopted a stroke-play format. if we examine it using our familiar z-score system, which measures each performance relative to the field (by how many standard deviations a player’s score was below the field average, for players who made the cut).Z-scores reward not only excellence relative to par, but also dominance in comparison to one’s peers on the same course at the same time. And Day’s competitors also shot very well when held up to Whistling Straits’ par-72 standard: The average of players who made the cut was 3.6 strokes under par, which ranks fifth-lowest of any major tournament since 1958. That number explains the big disconnect between Day’s amazing to-par score and his middling (by major-winning standards) z-score:Last weekend’s low-scoring PGA Championship also capped off a season of great performances by the field in majors. July’s British Open featured the lowest to-par scoring average (-5.6) of any major since 1958, and April’s Masters Tournament (-2.4) ranked 11th-lowest. Combined, this year’s quartet of majors saw the lowest scoring average (relative to par) of any season since 1958, and the only time in that span that the average cut-maker across all majors in a season was under par.The majors in 2014 ranked second-lowest, so we’re seeing an unprecedented spate of low-scoring performances in recent seasons, though it’s not clear what’s driving the trend. We can turn to the usual sources of speculation: technological improvements outstripping course designs, a (subconscious?) movement toward friendlier scoring conditions to improve golf as a television product, an incredible font of young talent emerging in the wake of Tiger Woods’s heyday, etc.Whatever the cause, it’s leading to players like Day going low on the game’s biggest stage, even if their performances aren’t historically great relative to their peers. He didn’t win the PGA Championship, but Jordan Spieth is still having one of golf’s greatest seasons.

COPY LINKAD Loading … Close This has to be the coolest PUBG Mobile trick, EVER!!! PUBG Mobile has become a household name in India and across the globe. Be it for good or bad reasons, PUBG Mobile is a hot topic of discussion among friends and families. For its players, PUBG Mobile brings an ultimate gaming experience without having a gaming setup in place. But that’s not the only reason why PUBG Mobile is so popular.Tencent Games, developer of PUBG Mobile, is constantly updating its battle royale game with new features and content that is attracting new players while keeping existing ones engaged to the game. But an upcoming update to PUBG Mobile has to be the most exciting one ever as it brings fresh weapons and content straight out of players’ wild imaginations.PUBG Mobile has updated its Chinese beta version of the app to introduce helicopters, new combat vehicle, enhanced weapons like RPGs and much more. Sadly, there’s no word on if and when the new content will arrive for the masses, but it could eventually make it to the rest of the world when the developers think it’s ready. For now, players can either wait in the excitement of the new update or try downloading the Chinese version of the game on the phone to test the new features. But doing so won’t sync your game progress, neither will it allow you to play with your mates unless they also have the Chinese version installed on the phones. PUBG Mobile updateScreenshotRegardless of what option you choose, it’s worth checking out the new content in the upcoming update before it is officially released.HelicoptersThis has to be the single best thing in PUBG Mobile. We played Call of Duty Mobile and found the choppers to be quite exciting. Bringing helicopters to PUBG Mobile enhances the gameplay by taking the combat to the skies. Helicopters also make it easier to commute and spot enemies to take them out while flying. The controls are pretty simple, top arrow to lift, down arrow to land and the direction is controlled separately. The chopper in the game replicates the real-life Boeing AH-6 Light Helicopter and it appears up to 4 people can sit in it.As the pilot flies the chopper around, other players will be able to engage in the combat, just like in the case of a car or jeep. But a sample video shows that the helicopters won’t be a part of the Classic mode in Erangel, but a special Arcade mode. The details of it remain to be uncovered.RPGs, grenade launcher and moreWith a new mode of transport included in PUBG Mobile, players need to be equipped with capable weapons. PUBG Mobile also comes with RPG and grenade launchers so players in the chopper or on the ground can engage in a fair fight. Both these new weapons don’t have a long-range, so players would need to get close to the enemies to take them out. PUBG Mobile Lite has RPGsIBTimes India/Sami KhanAdditionally, there are several new items for players, such as a repair kit for the chopper, binoculars and more. Players also get a chute to land safely if they jump out a flying chopper.Combat vehicleIn addition to the choppers and new weapons, PUBG Mobile also has a new BRDM combat ground vehicle, which can withstand gunfire and explosions. The vehicle is already seen in the PC version of the game and it can travel both on land and in water. If not a helicopter, this can be a really cool mode of transport in the game.Check out a video published by Mr. Ghost Gaming on YouTube, which has been taken from a Chinese beta tester of the game.Let us know what you think and if the new additions are exciting.
When fashion gets the color of culture, the outcome is always something new from the maker’s end. In same way ‘Indypindy’ has brought fashion items dedicated towards women but it also presents a fusion of international and local cultural extravaganzas. ‘Indypindy’ organised a two-day fashion couture event recently at LGF Navjeevan Vihar in the national Capital. It houses some of the best designers in their domains to deliver top notch and state-of-the-art products whether it is a saree, skirt or a clutch! The event witnessed the gracious presence of Sandeep Marwah, Director AAFT who encouraged the budding designers for adapting the idea of ‘Indypindy’ which focuses on the concept of ‘Make in India’. As the name suggests it is a group of Indian nomad designers who travel across the country and showcase their designs and unique collection to the diverse audience present in each part of India. The designers take up the designs from the rural and local area reflecting the native culture and fashion of the place and driving it to a national and international platform give rural handicrafts and designs complete exposure.
